A Rainy Day in Kauai
Today was a grey rainy day here in Kauai! Because of the lack of sunshine, we spent our day in double classes. Our Grade 11 English students avoided the rain and humidity in an empty room here at the hotel, while our Grade 12 English students took shelter in one of the Coconut Market gazebos. Meanwhile, our Photography students hopped between buildings and awnings. English students spent their day working on Shakespeare while Photography students began working on our Genre Studies. During our lunch hour, students explored the local Farmers Market enjoying samples of local honey and fresh fruits and heard stories about the local farmers. Others made the trek to the grocery store to buy supplies for lunch while dodging chickens! Kauai is known for their wild chickens which are EVERYWHERE, on paths, on the beach and in parking lots!
This evening, to counter act the gloomy mood of the rainy, this evening we enjoyed everyone’s favourite comfort food, Mac and Cheese with a Hawaiian twist (pineapple and ham)! Trying to beat the rain, we all huddled in a suite enjoying our food and listening to music. We ended our dinner with an impromptu round of early 2000s karaoke. This evening students stayed in, working on their upcoming assignments, playing cards and heading to bed early. Be sure to check out our Vidigami as we have a busy next few days between zip lining, surfing and a boat trip!
