We Have Arrived in Paris
Nous sommes arrivés !
We arrived safely in Paris on Saturday and we are all settled in our residence, La Maison des Étudiants Canadiens at Cité Universitaire. The residence is centrally located in the 14th arrondissement, directly across from the RER train stop. The RER train is a rapid train service that travels through Paris and its suburbs, so we can connect easily to all Metro lines!
The train ride into Paris on the TGV cut a nine-hour drive down to five hours! For those of us who slept the whole way, it went by in a flash. Those who stayed awake got to see some beautiful views of the French countryside.
Upon arrival at our residence, we had some down-time to sleep, study, or go grocery shopping before dinner at a French bistro down the street. It’s so nice to have everything within walking distance from residence!
Sunday was a wonderful sleep-in day before we went out for a walking tour of Le Marais, the Jewish quarter of Paris. Our guides, Sophia and Fred, led us through the area starting at St Michel fountain and ending at Place des Vosges: Paris’ first public park! We loved seeing the beauty of the city wall remains that once encircled a much smaller city of Paris. Le Marais also boasts a beautiful array of shops and restaurants, so we have been making note of where to come back over the next two weeks!
From what we can tell, the next two weeks are going to be full of amazing experiences and memories. We can’t wait to see what Paris has to offer! This week is jam-packed with excursions and museum visits.
À bientôt !
