Exploring Notre-Dame, Le Marais, and the Eiffel Tower!
It’s been a jam-packed couple of days since we arrived in Paris! The group is loving the feel of staying in a university residence; it’s like preparing for what’s to come in the next couple of years!
Our first day in the city was spent on a walking tour with Fred and Valérie, our two very knowledgeable guides. It was also our first experience on the Paris Metro, which has proven to be a system that is quite easy to navigate, provided you have a map handy!
Our walking tour took us around the area of Notre-Dame and into the Jewish Quarter, also known as Le Marais. The neighbourhood is full of beauty and surprises; every corner you turn there is something exciting to see! There is also a lot of great boutique shopping and delicious food so we will definitely be coming back.
After a long day of walking we felt it would be a great idea to have a nice dinner in the park, so pizza it was! Some students finished the evening off with some yoga with Mme O to relax.
Monday was the day everyone had been waiting for: the day we visit the Eiffel Tower! Thanks to Mme O’s Core French class, we enjoyed an amazing baguette sandwich picnic on Le Champ de Mars before heading up to the top of the tower for the amazing views.
I think it’s safe to say that going up the Eiffel Tower was a highlight of the trip thus far. Seeing the entire city from above really puts into perspective how fortunate we are to be here this summer, and reminds us to take every opportunity we can to enjoy each moment for the next week and a half!
Next stop: Versailles!
