A Beautiful Final Day in the South!

Joyeux vendredi !

I can’t believe our time in the French Riviera is coming to an end! What better way to spend our last day than with a day trip to Monaco and Nice? Fearful of a no-show train due to the France-wide rail strike, we set off at 7 am to make sure we had plenty of time to see both cities. To our surprise, the train showed up as scheduled!

Monaco was even more beautiful than we imagined it would be. We climbed up to the top of the hill at the Prince’s Palace for some photos and snacks, then split off into two groups. Half of us went into the Palace to see a bit of the history behind Monaco’s royalty, and the other half walked over to Monte Carlo to take in more of the city-state’s beauty.

Before we knew it, it was time to get back on the train to go to Nice. The afternoon was spent shopping, admiring the beautiful architecture, and relaxing at the beach! The beach in Nice may be rocky, but the water is absolutely stunning. Most would agree that it was the best beach we visited during our week in the South!

After having braved the commuter rush on the way home, we had our last dinner at Quai 06, the restaurant at our hotel. We’d love to send out our thanks to all of the amazing waitstaff for putting up with us all week; we’ll miss you in Paris!

Le mot du jour : état souverain

En anglais : city-state/sovereign state (like Monaco!)
