About This Study Abroad Program
Travel abroad through the ancient lands of kings and queens, Celts and Druids, Harry Potter and Dumbledore, and along the path of Vikings through Scotland, England, and Ireland.
On the banks of the Clyde River in Scotland is Glasgow, a contemporary city of culture, with galleries, cafés, and shopping. Learn about the city’s history at the Riverside Museum, attempt to understand the strong Glaswegian accent, and enjoy unique Scottish flavours like Irn-Bru pop and haggis.
In Edinburgh, Scotland’s grand capital, explore the historical neighbourhoods and be awed by the city’s very own castle overlooking the streets below! Take in splendid panoramas from Calton Hill, and enjoy an optional excursion to see lochs and the Highlands.
Next, on this study abroad program, students will travel south to the ancient walled city of York, home to the Shambles, arguably the best-preserved medieval street in the world. Board a steam train for an unforgettable journey through the rolling hills of the North York Moors, including a stop at Goathland, also known as Hogsmeade in the Harry Potter films!
In London, stroll along the Thames and spot the famous Big Ben, Tower Bridge, and Tate Modern. Take an unforgettable trip to Shakespeare’s Globe theatre, view history and culture at the British Museum, and browse the shops at Covent Garden, Regent Street, and Oxford Street. Maybe even take the opportunity to see the entire city from above on the London Eye.
Develop an ear for the craic in Dublin, capital of the Republic of Ireland. Use your Dublin Pass to join a hop-on, hop-off bus tour and choose which of the top attractions to visit, including the Guinness Storehouse, the Dublin Zoo, the Viking museum, and trendy Grafton Street, where you can shop for the perfect souvenir to bring home.
SPECIAL PROGRAM NOTE: Make sure to bring comfortable walking shoes! Many of the places we visit are discovered on foot.

Highlands, Lochs & Castles (Glasgow)
Be wowed on this spectacular full day tour that will take you to some of the most beautiful spots in Scotland. Epic castles, calm lochs, majestic mountains, wee towns steeped in tales of treacherous battles – a true tour of quintessential Scotland.
We leave the city behind and drive the shores of Loch Lomond, Scotland’s largest loch, before crossing ‘Rest and Be Thankful Pass’, a scenic valley road where, in olden times, weary travellers would rest before continuing their arduous journeys.
On the banks of Loch Fyne, we’ll stop at picturesque Inveraray, an 18th-century village with classical Scottish architecture, before continuing on to Loch Awe and Kilchurn Castle, an ancient fortress perched by the water’s edge.
Our stop for lunch (purchase locally) is Oban, ‘Gateway to the Isles’, where the seafood is second to none. McCaig’s Tower, a structure resembling Rome’s Colosseum overlooks the town and offers magnificent views of the sea.
En route back to Glasgow, we’ll stop at Glencoe, a valley that features in Harry Potter and James Bond films; cross the desolate, Rannoch Moor, covered by heather and peat-bogs; and stroll through the village of Luss, a conservation village that bursts into colour in summer with flower displays.
Please bring water, snacks, waterproofs and wear comfortable walking shoes
London Eye (London)
Appreciate a bird’s-eye view of London from our capsule on the London Eye.
We’ll enjoy a 30 minute rotation on the world’s tallest cantilevered observation wheel. At 135 metres above the River Thames we’ll have fantastic views of Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, MI6 (the HQ of the British Secret Intelligence Service) and the Houses of Parliament. On a clear day, we can see all the way to Windsor Castle – almost 40km away.
Fun fact 1! With more than 3.5 million people travelling on the Eye each year, it’s the most popular paid tourist attraction in the U.K.
Fun fact 2! There are 32 capsules – one for each of London’s boroughs, but they’re numbered 1-33 as there’s no number 13.
Fun fact 3! Over 5,000 people have gotten engaged on the Eye since it opened in 2000.
