STUDY ABROAD IN IRELAND & ENGLAND
About This Program
A tour through some of classical literature’s most inspirational cities and towns, this program will be a treat for the academics at heart, and a great way to get a taste of university life ahead of time!
Start your tour of some of the world’s oldest and most prestigious Universities at University College Cork, on the leafy banks of the River Lee. Explore all this foodie city has to offer – making sure not to miss the historic and world-renowned English Market, in operation since 1788. Take the opportunity to ring the bells at the church of St Anne’s, tour the historic Cork City Gaol, or simply enjoy the unique character of this laid-back southern city.
Travel northwest to the bohemian and up-tempo west coast town of Galway, and stay in residence at the National University of Ireland campus. Immerse yourself in the diversity of cultures in Galway, also known as the ‘City of Equals”. Enjoy the arts scene, visit the awe-inspiring Cliffs of Moher, spend time beachcombing along the Atlantic coast, and listen to the live music filling the streets.
Head east across the countryside and enjoy the rolling hills on your way to Dublin, where you’ll settle in at the historic Trinity College and explore the campus in the heart of the city. Use your Dublin Pass to join a hop-on, hop-off bus tour and choose which of the top attractions to visit, including the Guinness Storehouse, the trendy Temple Bar neighbourhood, the Viking museum, and the shops of Grafton Street, just steps from your residence.
From Dublin, travel across the Irish Sea to Oxford, the city of dreaming spires, and take up residence at one of Oxford’s colleges, the perfect home base for exploring this historic university. Visit the Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology, and punt down the River Cherwell.
No University tour would be complete without a stop at the alma mater of many Prime Ministers – the prestigious University of Cambridge, dating to 1209. Tour the ancient campus, including the famous King’s College, and climb the stairs of Great St. Mary’s church tower for incredible views of Cambridge.
Pick up the pace in the thriving metropolis of London, and check into Imperial College just steps from Kensington Palace. Take in St. Paul’s Cathedral, and study Shakespeare while visiting the stage his plays were created for at the Globe theatre. Explore the British Museum before learning the history of the Tower of London and viewing the Crown Jewels inside.
