STUDY ABROAD IN GREECE
About This Program
Spend part of your summer in the birthplace of modern democracy, Greece. Both ancient and modern, the country is a mix of ruins and resorts, tranquil islands and busy cities, and distinct cultures from the mainland to islands.
Start your tour in the ancient city of Athens and explore both classical architecture and modern city life. Hike through the Acropolis and take in the glory of the Parthenon and the Temple of Athena Nike. Explore the shops in Athens’ lively marketplace, Plaka, teeming with cafés, restaurants, and night-life. Study in one of the world’s oldest cities, where so much history comes to life.
Leave the land behind and board ferries for island-hopping and learning in the Aegean sea. As you explore this unique archipelago, each island offers a stunning backdrop for your studies.
Start your island adventure off on Paros, an island surrounded by beaches with crystal clear waters. Its capital, Parikia, is a beautiful village full of stunning vistas everywhere you look. Trek up to the city’s well-preserved 13th century Venetian castle for fantastic views of the entire city and beyond!
Head south to the stunning and glamorous island of Santorini, known for its iconic white buildings with azure rooftops lining the hillsides. Explore the unique pathways and side streets on a walking tour of Thera/Fira, Santorini’s Old Town, and catch one of the most beautiful sunset views on earth from beautiful Oia on the northwest tip of the island.
From Santorini, we head south to Crete, the country’s largest and most populous island, where you can rejuvenate on dazzling beaches, and swim in clear blue waters. Take a walking tour of Heraklion’s Old Town, first established in roughly 820AD! Visit Knossos – the largest Bronze Age archaeological site on Crete, and often called Europe’s oldest city – to explore the ruins of the Palace of the Minoans.
From Crete, head back north to spend a final few days in Athens, where you’ll celebrate your immersion in Greek culture and food at a rooftop farewell banquet overlooking the old city and the Parthenon.
