We have arrived in Monteverde and just got up from our second night’s dinner. The bus ride seemed fairly quick and the view coming up was spectacular. We alternated between sun and cloud and the valleys and trees were breathtaking. The next 4 days will be exploring this picturesque part of Costa Rica.
Monteverde is a quaint, hilly town. We were welcomed with cooler temperatures which were a nice break from the 40 degree weather we were getting in Playas del Coco. We got to enjoy a night hike where we were introduced to a variety of native nocturnal creatures: vipers, bats, toucans and even a tarantula. We visited Life Monteverde where students learned about the sustainability of a local farm. They planted trees, tilled soil and painted a mural. Tomorrow, we will be going on a hike so that students can see the creatures who roam about the forest during the day. There is so much to see yet so little time!
Next stop: Arenal!
