We have arrived at the beautiful volcanic paradise of Ometepe!

After a ferry ride into the middle of Lake Nicaragua, the largest lake in Central America, we began to notice the diverse wildlife and ecological focus of the island. The teachers gave the students some time to soak in our beautiful accommodations before beginning afternoon classes. The evening consisted of a very flavourful dinner (another highlight of the island), more class and then a hotly contested trivia night.

Saturday is a full teaching day with the occasional breaks to swim in the lake or the hotel pool. We’re looking forward to a busy Sunday morning with our volcano hike and trip to the local hot spring, Ojo de Agua. Luckily for us it’s an active volcano!
