Today we had an early morning transfer from Reydarfjurdor to Akureyri

En route we stopped off at the highly anticipated Godafoss. After seeing so many waterfalls, it has become second nature to see them and to not necessarily react. This one however, lives up to its name, “Godafoss “God” of all fosses (we made that up). It was immense, loud, and the perfect backdrop for Mr. Sargento’s photography students to capture amazing shots. The transfer today was not so long and our amazing bus driver Hjalti has not stopped buying us snacks for the bus. We are so lucky to have such a generous and kind bus driver, he has truly become an integral part of our team, and has enhanced our experience so much. He provides us with a local perspective and always stops at amazing spots that only a local would know. Again, we lucked out!

We finally arrived at Akureyri Backpackers hostel, which is in the heart of the town. It is the perfect base to explore the magical wonders of North Iceland. It’s known for it’s short distance from the whale watching town of Husavik which is the location of our next excursion. This hostel is known to have delicious food, and on the menu for today was Arctic Char. It was so tasty, we can’t wait to see what is in store for tomorrow.

After dinner, the students opted to explore this small safe town, so they signed out in fours and came back on time and in good spirits. We look forward to further exploring this little town! I can’t believe how much we have already done, and we are only half way through. As we meet people at our hostels along the
way, they are all so envious that we get so many days to really and truly enjoy this country.

Well it’s bed time for us!

Have a lovely night,
