Our time in Toulon was filled with sun, sand, beautiful beaches, ice cream, classes, kayaking, and even fireworks!
We were lucky enough to be there on the Jour de la Bastille, and it was nice to see some of the students becoming able to appreciate the full historical meaning of this date for French people.
In the morning we said “au revoir” to France, and arrived at this riot of colours, happiness and sunshine that is Barcelona. The architecture impressed us even before we came down from the bus. Despite the 7 hours of riding, and all the sleepiness, how could Gaudí pass unnoticed?
Later we had a walking tour, saw the Picasso museum, and learned a little about the history of Cataluña. By the end of the day, all tired but happy, we had dinner together, and those who desired came with me to the Magic Fountains: an enchanting show of a dancing fountain, with colours and music, so beautiful that it attracts about 2.5 million people every year. What a great first day in Spain!
