We begin our Eastern Europe program in Berlin. There’s so much to see here, including the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, Brandenburg Gate, Berlin Wall Museum, and Checkpoint Charlie. We’ll also take some time to relax in beautiful Tiergarten Park.

Out next stop is Prague, the city of a hundred spires. We’ll enjoy views from Letná Park, watch the Astronomical Clock chime, and visit the Jewish Museum.

We’ll then cross to Poland and the city of Krakow. With a knowledgeable guide, we’ll explore the old town, and head out of the city to spend a somber afternoon at Auschwitz Concentration Camp.

Continuing our journey, we arrive in Bratislava, Slovakia. With beaches, hipster cafés, and outdoor markets, this city has a vibrant character.

Our next stop is Budapest, Hungary — one of the most attractive cities in Europe. We’ll visit the Fisherman’s Bastion, Heroes’ Square — home to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and ride the funicular railway.

Arriving at the Adriatic Sea, we’ll stay in Split, Croatia, a town known for its beaches and impressive Roman monument, the Diocletian’s Palace.

Next, we’ll visit Dubrovnik. A seaport with a quaint harbour, well-preserved city walls and spectacular old town.

Ljubljana, Slovenia, is our final location. We’ll stroll by the river and view the collection at the National Gallery.  This is a truly fantastic end point for our final exam and farewell banquet.

Prepare to be amazed at the devotion and superstition that drove miners to carve figures, monuments and altar pieces into the walls of an 800-year-old salt mine. As you walk down 360 steps into the mine, you have the impression of entering a vast underground city, complete with huge caverns and underground lakes. This underground world has earned a place on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list thanks to the creativity of the miners who carved chapels out of the walls, hundreds of metres below the surface. You will visit the largest of the chapels dedicated to St. Kinga, the patron saint of salt miners. This subterranean church is richly decorated with chandeliers, sculptures, and religious figures carved out of salt. As you follow the 2 1/2-kilometre walk, you’ll pass statues dating back to the 18th century depicting mythical, historical and religious figures. The lift will carry you back to the surface.
