We begin our program in Scotland, where we will have time to explore the cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh. Glasgow, on the River Clyde, has developed into a contemporary city of culture with galleries, museums, cafés, shopping and friendly Glaswegians.

Edinburgh is Scotland’s grand capital city. With its imposing castle overlooking the streets below, splendid vistas from Arthur’s Seat (an extinct volcano), and more, this city is steeped in history for us to learn about.

As we travel south, we’ll board a steam train travelling through rolling hills and stop at Goathland station — otherwise known as Hogsmeade in the Harry Potter films! We’ll spend the night in York, home to the Shambles, arguably the best-preserved medieval street in the world.

Reaching London, we’ll see Big Ben, visit Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and cross Tower Bridge. We take in history and culture at several museums before exploring the famous shops of Regent Street and Oxford Street.

Lastly, we cross the Irish Sea by plane to Dublin. Our Dublin Pass gives us access to some of the city’s top attractions from the Guinness Storehouse to Dublin Zoo, and we’ll enjoy a hop-on, hop-off bus tour. We end our program with a final exam and farewell banquet to celebrate our adventure across the British Isles.

Optional Excursions

London Eye (London)

Appreciate a bird’s-eye view of London from our capsule on the London Eye.

We’ll enjoy a 30 minute rotation on the world’s tallest cantilevered observation wheel. At 135 metres above the River Thames we’ll have fantastic views of Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, MI6 (the HQ of the British Secret Intelligence Service) and the Houses of Parliament. On a clear day, we can see all the way to Windsor Castle – almost 40km away.

Fun fact 1! With more than 3.5 million people travelling on the Eye each year, it’s the most popular paid tourist attraction in the U.K.

Fun fact 2! There are 32 capsules – one for each of London’s boroughs, but they’re numbered 1-33 as there’s no number 13.

Fun fact 3! Over 5,000 people have gotten engaged on the Eye since it opened in 2000.

We’ll have the freedom to explore the beautiful coastline at our own pace, hiking along the cliff tops, taking in the views and discovering the local flora and fauna. At the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre we’ll learn about the history and folklore of this natural wonder.

We’ll make a stop at the village of Doolin, one of Ireland’s surfing hotspots with some lovely cafes, where we’ll enjoy a picnic lunch.
