FEATURED PROGRAM: AMAZON & GALAPAGOS
Our program begins high in the Andes in Quito, the capital of Ecuador, where we’ll hike to amazing panoramic views. We’ll also visit the Mitad del Mundo monument, marking the earliest measurements of the equatorial line.
From Quito we fly to Isla Santa Cruz in the Galapagos. In between classes in Puerto Ayora, we’ll swim in the Pacific and play sports on the beach. Our studies then take us off-shore for a three–day guided cruise of the islands and their extraordinary wildlife. Each day, we’ll board zodiacs to nearby volcanic islands for our classes.
After a short stay in San Cristobal, we fly back to the mainland and travel to Otavalo, a town in the foothills of the Ecuadorian Andes where, on a clear day, we can see the huge Imbabura and Cotacachi volcanoes.
On our way into the Amazon rainforest, we’ll stop for a therapeutic thermal bath in Papallacta before settling in at our eco-lodge in the Amazon, which will serve as home base for our classes, hiking through the rainforest, and swimming in the Napo River.
After the final exam, our South American journey ends in Puembo, where students will enjoy a farewell banquet in honour of our Ecuadorian learning adventure.
